Whether it’s as a treat at the end of a long, hard day or just to warm your cockles on a chilly evening, there are few more indulgent treats than a nice, hot cup of cacao!
So we’ve teamed up with the amazing people over at Trewhitts vegan catering to put together our very own CBD cacao recipe – it’s vegan, it’s all-natural and, most importantly, it’s delicious!
Check out our recipe below:
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups of water (spring water is best)
- 1 cup of oat milk, or any other milk alternative
- 2 1/2 tablespoons of dried rose petals
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
- ½ tablespoon of ginger powder
- 7 lightly crushed cardamom pods
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 1/4 of a cup of cacao powder
- 3 drops of cbd oil
- A few drops of rose water
EQUIPMENT:
- One small saucepan
- One fine-mesh sieve
- One whisk
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine the water, rose petals, cinnamon, ginger and crushed cardamom pods into the saucepan and set over medium heat until lightly simmering.
Once the water is just beginning to simmer remove it from heat, cover with a lid, and let everything steep for around 20-25 minutes.
After allowing the mixture to steep, pour it through a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring container before setting to one side.
Once decanted, give the saucepan a quick rinse to remove any excess petals that may remain. Then pour in your milk substitute and return back to the hob on a medium-low heat.
Once the milk begins to simmer, add the remaining ingredients along with the mixture you set aside earlier and whisk together until smooth and velvety.
Once the hot cacao reaches the desired temperature, remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly before adding your CBD oil. Then divide between two cups, top with some more rose petals and voila!
A delicious, healthy, guilt-free hot cacao that’s sure to be a welcome companion on those chilly nights.
TOP TIP: If you find yourself wanting a stronger rose flavour, simply add one or two drops of rose water to the hot chocolate prior to serving for an extra kick.
