8 Ways to Improve Your Mental Health
This World Mental Health day comes at an unprecedented time in human history, and with the coronavirus pandemic our mental health is suffering more than ever as we try to navigate our new world.
It’s vital to ‘exercise’ your mind to keep it healthy just as you do your body, but many people still don’t take steps to promote and maintain good mental health.
This World Mental Health day we thought we’d share 8 of our favourite wellness tips so you can start to master your mental health today!
- Take a moment to BREATHE
Switch off the news, take a break from Instagram and stop checking your work emails! It can be really beneficial to take a moment away from the stresses of everyday life to just reflect and breathe. You might want to do a full meditation (there are some great ones on YouTube!) or just take a few minutes to zone out and listen to your favourite song. - Get out in nature
There’s nothing like a brisk walk in the fresh air to lift your mood and press reset. Whether your little piece of nature is a mountainous beauty spot or your local park, find time to get out there and enjoy it! - Connect with your loved ones
Whether safely in person or through a screen, it’s more important than ever to reach out and connect with our friends and families. Have a virtual pint with that friend you’ve been meaning to text back, or get the whole family involved and organise a virtual quiz night – get creative! - Live healthier with CBD
Hemp-derived CBD oil is reported to have amazing benefits for both mental and physical health. Take your CBD as a daily supplement or soak in the CBD goodness topically with a balm or butter. - Treat yourself (or someone else!)
If you have the spare cash, now is the time to get yourself that video game or that cosy scarf you’ve been eyeing up for the winter – you deserve it! - Get some pet therapy
Did you know that our pets can reduce stress, anxiety and depression, ease loneliness, and even improve our cardiovascular health? Whether your pet is a cat, canine or everything in between, nothing beats coming home to a cuddle from your best friend. - Contribute to a good cause
With safety restrictions cancelling many vital fundraising events, the coronavirus pandemic has left many charities struggling. There are lots of fun new ways to get involved and raise money, from entering an art competition to running a full marathon on your staircase! A good place to start is to donate to your local charity, or get some friends together and sign up for a virtual day out like no other. Giving makes you feel great too, so it’s a win-win! - Remember – we’re all in the same boat!
If you’re struggling with your mental health, know that there are thousands out there facing the same challenges. It’s important to try to focus on the present and know that things can and will get better.
